On the edge of the Embrun rock, between Lake Serre-Ponçon and the Hautes-Alpes mountains, Les Capucins produces solo and group exhibitions and supports research and creative residencies. The programme is designed as a network with other art venues and in dialogue with local stakeholders, reflecting the issues facing society. Exhibitions are conceived in situ, produced to suit the location and in line with the history and specific characteristics of a rural and mid-mountain setting.

Une androsace, Vénus et ses berger·es

For the past two years, Radouan Zeghidour has been living on the edge of the forest, in a hamlet in the Parc des Écrins. His field of artistic experimentation, which until then had tended to be the Parisian underground and the fringes of urban landscapes, has been completely transformed and renewed, and with it the materials, temporalities and narratives mobilised in his practice. But some things never change: Radouan Zeghidour still likes to go where you're not supposed to go, whether it's forbidden or impossible to get to. And that's just as well: on foot, on skis or between the lines of history books, the mountains are full of side roads.

For his first exhibition in an art centre, Radouan Zeghidour has produced composite works whose materials and imagery echo life in the surrounding area: felted and carded wool, bales of hay, fountains and gargoyles, grimacing masks and grotesque figures borrowed from Romanesque architecture.
