SOLS, Charlie Malgat

SOLS are those troubled territories at the edge of inside and outside, skins that reveal on their surface what has been patiently built and assembled inside, tiny lives that have germinated deep down, out of sight. What particularly caught Charlie Malgat's attention was their incredible capacity for adaptation, which has led to their exceptional development. The artist translates these symbiotic relationships, these opportune associations between species, into works that resist qualification. They are never just paintings, sculptures or films. They are one thing and always another. The artist grafts volumes onto his paintings, paintings onto his films, and drawing onto his sculptures.
