Villa designed by Robert Mallet-Stevens for the patrons Charles and Marie-Laure de Noailles, this art centre is focused on fashion, design, architecture and photography and holds a permanent exhibition on the history of the place.
Venue: Villa Noailles, Hyères
In continuation of the celebrations of the Centenary of Villa Noailles and the centenary year of the Surrealist manifesto, this exhibition proposes to explore a lesser-known aspect of Marie-Laure de Noailles' life. Renowned patron, muse, fashion icon, socialite, writer, and poetess, she nonetheless identifies herself as an artist.
This exhibition will unfold in two parts: this winter 2024, the presentation of Marie-Laure de Noailles' work as a painter, and this summer, the selection of works from the exhibition "Marie Laure, painter." will be enriched by "Conversation," a subjective selection of works by artists from her era, who may or may not have influenced her work. Among them are Dora Maar, Salvador Dalí, Oscar Dominguez, Max Ernst, Georges Hugnet, Léonor Fini, Maurice Henry, Valentine Hugo, Jacqueline Lamba, Meret Oppenheim, Francis Picabia, Dorothea Tanning, Yves Tanguy, and Toyen.
Marie Laure de Noailles, painter. Part 2: "Conversation" : From June 28th to January 12th 2025
The festival is founded and directed by Jean-Pierre Blanc, and chaired by Pascale Mussard. Since 1986, the festival has promoted and supported young international fashion design, since 1997 a competition has been open to emerging photographers, and since 2016 a competition has distinguished new accessory designers.
Exhibitions to be discovered until 12 January 2025
• Nicolas Di Felice: three elements of a visual equation - Robert Mallet-Stevens's ideal modernist villa, the cult cuts of couturier André Courrèges and the postmodern interpretations of Nicolas Di Felice, artistic director of Courrèges.
• Coco Capitán explores the ephemeral nature of life, drawing inspiration from the ancient concept of ‘memento mori’, a reminder of the inevitability of death.
• Lesage x Aristide: 19M invited the art house's embroidery workshop to collaborate with the artist Aristide (Aristide Barraud). Together they created Murmuration, a monumental drawing depicting a swarm of hundreds of embroidered starlings.
• Igor Dieryck: drawing inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of his native country while integrating the political and geopolitical developments of our societies, he reinterprets the role of the uniform within Belgian folklore.
• Thaddé Comar: produced between 2019 and 2024, the series examines the influence of the world of information and the phenomenon of one-upmanship.
• Souleymane Bachir explores the ocean as a profound metaphor for memory, restoring recollections of confessions, testimonies and interactions, while seeking to recall the familiarity of landscapes and subjects.
• Rémi Calmont & De Pino: a monumental work in wadding, conceived in two parts, which blends into the unique architecture of the Villa Noailles while echoing its rich surrealist past.
• Marvin M'toumo: an exhibition of dresses, jewellery, accessories and photographs, all born of his obsession with the figure of the bird.
• Gabrielle Huguenot, the Swiss designer who has fashion under her spell.
• Achilles Ion Gabriel, creative director of Camper and CamperLab.
Venue: Hôtel des Arts TPM
the exhibition at the Hôtel des Arts TPM showcases a selection of works, most of which were published last June in The Drawer magazine, Vol. 24, Under 25, featuring the work of about thirty fourth- and fifth-year art school students from France and abroad.
This exhibition feels like a journey through the drawing and moods of the moment, where permeability takes shape, and connections are reinvented, creating new scenarios. Drawing emerges as a space of freedom, healing, distancing, and transformation for the younger generation.
